👋Hey Friends,
In this post we're diving into the wild world of public speaking, and who better to guide you than me, your oh-so-wise 18-year-old sage? Brace yourselves for some unfiltered wisdom!
Ever notice how chatting with a bunch of little kids feels like a breeze? They're basically the living definition of a "no judgment zone." So, here's the golden nugget of advice my esteemed Head of Department bestowed upon me: Picture your audience as a bunch of clueless kids. Trust me, they won't judge because they simply don't know any better. 😜 I put this genius advice to the test just yesterday. We had a seminar at college, and after all the stuff, it turned into a mini party. Students were encouraged to sing, and I had this itch to give it a go (I like to think I'm a decent singer, okay maybe just a passable one, fine!). It was one of those moments when you're teetering on the edge of doing something daring but fear holds you back. Then, I remembered my HOD's words and I muttered, "Okay, no worries. Everyone here is deaf. No one hears a thing!" I chanted my personal mantra, "All is well, all is well..." (Bro thinks he is Panjavan Paarivendhan) and went for it. As I stood up to grab the mic, the whole place erupted in cheers, especially the guys (and gals too). My heart was pounding, but I kept going. I held the mic like a champ (or at least tried to) and sang my heart out, mostly looking down (kind of like a blind guy busking for money, no offense!). When I finally mustered the courage to look up, there they were, actually listening to me! It felt pretty darn good, and I gained a little confidence to keep going. When I finished, the crowd went wild - cheering, whistling, and giving me a ovation. That moment was pure magic, and I owe it all to my HOD. As we left the hall, new faces approached me, struck up conversations, and complimented me. Everyone was saying it. (Okay, I'll admit, this post is basically me journaling about my slightly above-average singing skills, but hey, we all need to brag a little, right? Haha!) Alright, alright.
Started to write about public speaking and ended with "How to Sing with no fear", lol but the tip applies for every possible stage-fear scenario. And obviously, I'm gonna use it when I give a seminar in the upcoming days. So, there you have it, Remember, it's all about embracing the unexpected and ditching those unnecessary expectations. So, go out there, be bold, and speak to the inner fool in each of us!
And hey, don't forget to share this nugget of wisdom with your fellow seekers of brilliance. Spread the love and laughter! Until next time, stay wise, stay sassy, and above all, stay fabulous!
